Text Box: A Higher Degree
During the months when the landscape was a little less green, members of the DeHoff’s team took time to study and gain certification in their chosen areas.
      Lacy Warner became a
Certified Landscape Technician, testing in areas of landscape plant material and common diseases.
Nicholas Lare received certification in Interlocking Concrete Paver installation. After two days of classes and training, he then had to pass a test concerning the proper techniques in estimating and installing concrete pavers.

Text Box: Grub Control
Last summer many lawns in our area suffered grub damage. Grubs are the larvae stage of many insects, including the Japanese Beetle. They attack our lawns by eating the roots of the grass. The most obvious sign of grubs is patches of dry, straw-colored grass in your lawn that lift up easily like a toupee.
A spring application of grub control can be applied in May. However, a mid-summer (late July or 1st of August) application will be more effective as it will control the younger larvae before they go deeper into the ground for fall.
There are many grub control products available. To be effective they need to be incorporated into the soil. This can be accomplished by watering after the application or making your application prior to a rain.
Milky Spore is a natural, biological product that will kill only the larvae of Japanese Beetles. This product actually multiplies within the Japanese Beetle and continues to be effective against later beetle populations. But again this product only controls the larvae of the Japanese Beetle.
